Yesterday I went to a music store looking for the new Weckl book. They didn't have it... but I couldn't leave with my hands empty!!, and I bought a couple of books.

The first one is "Double Bass Drumming" by Jeff Bowders. He uses a very simple idea that he called "the mirrored groove system", which basically are two bar phrases, the first is a syncopated rhythm leading with the right feet, and the 2nd is the same rhythm leading with the left, with different ostinatos on the right hand.
Sounds easy but there're some tricky figures. Very well organized, and you get inspired just by listening the examples in the CD.

The second book is "Brushworks" by Clayton Cameron. I'm a huge fan of his video but I was a little skeptical because I found the books about brushes kind of confusing.... usually they use very complex (and sometimes un comprehensible) diagrams to explain the most basic figures. Clayton does a great job here explaining the different strokes and techniques, is kind of an extension to his video, with some interesting ideas, some transcriptions, and one play along. If you're interested in brushes, this is a good option.

Well...time to hit the practice room

I've been going through Clayton Cameron's Brushworks book as well lately....it's quite good....very detailed...it you're interested in really learning how to use brushes, definitely a good book to have...he's also come up with "brush rudiments" which he includes in the book as well...I haven't gone through those yet though, I've only been through the first half of the book where he describes a bunch of different brush patterns...so far so good

Don't worry Fuse, you're safe, I was just blofin' (spelling?). I'm a lazy student by nature
.

I'm not sure of the translation of this, but in Mexico we use to say something like: "dogs that bark, don't bite".

By the way, you're getting closer to your post No 2000!!!. We have to do something to commemorate that!!. Maybe we should convince Vinnie to give you a month of free lessons or something.
